The Royal Theatre in downtown Benton will bring the classic Broadway musical “Guys and Dolls” to the local stage this August. The upcoming production, sponsored by Meridiem Psychological Services Inc., will run for two weekends from August 13-23.
The 150-minute show transports audiences from the bright lights of New York City to the cafes of Havana, Cuba.
The plot follows the intertwined stories of gamblers Nathan Detroit and Sky Masterson, along with their respective love interests, nightclub performer Miss Adelaide and straight-laced missionary Sarah Brown.
Evening performances are scheduled for Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 7 p.m., while Sunday matinees will begin at 2 p.m.
Local actors lead the cast, featuring Sa’Teh Abdul as Nathan Detroit, Skyla Conger as Miss Adelaide, Chase Albaugh as Sky Masterson, and Emma Guill as Sarah Brown.
The creative team includes director Matthew Burns, musical director Lexie Ellis, and choreographer Reagan Hammonds Turbyfill.
General admission tickets are $20 online or $22 at the box office, with discounted rates available for seniors 60 and older, college students, military personnel, and students in 12th grade and younger.
Theater officials at the 111 S. Market Street venue advise patrons to purchase tickets in advance, noting that the PG-13 rated production includes strobe lights, haze effects, and simulated gunshots.
