Fite Announces His Intent to Run for a 4th Term as State Representative

August 8, 2019 By Shelli Poole Leave a Comment

State Representative Lanny Fite announced his intent to seek his fourth term in the Arkansas State House of Representatives. Fite is serving his third term as a state representative in District 23, which includes a portion of Saline County. He currently sits on three standing committees House City, County and Local Affairs, which he chairs, House Revenue and Taxation, and House Rules. He serves on the Arkansas Legislative Council, including four subcommittees: the Uniform Personnel Classification and Compensation Plan, Litigation Reports Oversight (co‑chair), Highway Commission Review and Advisory, and Claims Review. He is an alternate on the Joint Committee on Public Retirement and Social Security Programs and Legislative Joint Auditing.

Earlier this year, he received the Arkansas Municipal League Distinguished Legislator Award. He is an Army veteran, served in Vietnam, and is a member of the Veterans’ Caucus. Fite has spent his time in the legislature fighting for conservative causes, including tax cuts, property tax relief, and pro-life legislation.

“It is an honor and privilege to serve the people of District 23 in the House of Representatives. As a legislator, my job is to stand up for the values of Arkansans and be a consistent voice for them,” stated Fite. “My track record shows I am a proven conservative, and with your help, we can continue working together to ensure fiscal responsibility, protect life, and create a pro-business environment so we can grow, expand, and provide opportunities for hard-working Arkansas families.”

Prior to serving in the legislature, Fite served as Saline County Judge for 16 years. He also owned a small business, Arkansas Asphalt, for 17 years. He and his wife, Sherri Adams Fite, have two children, Kellie Turner and husband Joel, of Southeast Asia, and son, Adam Fite and wife Heather, of Fayetteville and 5 grandchildren.  They live in Benton and are members of Holland Chapel Baptist Church.
