The Saline Crossing Chapter of the National Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) is hosting a community commemoration on Friday to mark the 25th anniversary of the 2001 terrorist attacks.
The morning event will honor the victims of 9/11, those who served in the aftermath, and all local first responders serving Saline County. Read more below.
The memorial tribute is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 11, 2026. The gathering will take place by the gazebo on the grounds of the Saline County Courthouse in Benton.
Organizers say the ceremony aims to ensure the community continues to “Never Forget” the lives lost during the attacks and the sacrifices made by recovery workers and military personnel. In addition to remembering the events from 25 years ago, the organization will specifically honor the dedication and bravery of Saline County’s current emergency responders.
The event is organized by the Saline Crossing Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR). The NSDAR is a non-political service organization dedicated to promoting patriotism, education, and historic preservation. Membership is open to women 18 years of age and older who can prove direct lineage to a patriot who aided or served in the American Revolution.
