The Bryant Parks Committee will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 12, 2026, at the Bishop Park Administration Building conference room to discuss a range of items, including expanded senior services, park improvements, and facility use requests. Read more below.
One of the key topics on the agenda is a proposed expansion of senior services within the Parks and Recreation Department. Committee members will consider adding several new positions, including a Senior Services Superintendent, which would serve as the division lead for a newly created Senior Services Division. The role would oversee daily operations at the Senior Adult Center as well as the Home Delivered Meals program.
Additional proposed positions include a Senior Services Coordinator, a Lead Cook, a part-time Cook, and a Parks Staff position to support front desk operations, programming, and senior services. The Parks meeting agenda says the added staffing would help meet growing demand, reduce reliance on part-time workers, and support expanded programming, including new activities such as fall flag football.
The committee will also review a request from the Bryant Youth Association to sublease its space at Bishop Park in order to launch an academy and support other programming needs.
Park improvements are also on the agenda, including a proposal to rebuild the basketball court at Mills Park. Plans call for a new concrete slab, updated surfacing and paint, and new goals. Funding for the project would come from remaining Amendment 78 funds along with a donation from a local family.
In addition, the committee will consider a request to allow alcohol to be served during a special event at The Center at Bishop Park. The event, the Bingo Burger Bash, is scheduled for May 29 and is being organized by Leadership Saline County Class XX, with a portion of proceeds benefiting the Bryant Youth Association.
The meeting will also include the approval of April meeting minutes, a report from the Central Arkansas Soccer Club, and the Parks Department’s monthly summary.
The Bryant Parks Committee meeting is open to the public.
