A male teen has been arrested and charged with first-degree battery following an early morning shooting in Bryant’s King’s Crossing neighborhood that left a victim in critical condition. Police have taken the suspect into custody and are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident on William Lane. Read more below.
The suspect, identified as Hayden Shepherd, 19, was arrested and charged with first-degree battery. Shepherd is currently being held at the Saline County Detention Facility as detectives work to reconstruct the events that transpired at the residence.
According to the Bryant Police Department, emergency crews were dispatched to a home on William Lane in the King’s Crossing neighborhood at approximately 7:30 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 6, 2026. First responders initially staged nearby as a safety precaution. Once law enforcement secured the scene, medical personnel entered the home and located a male victim who had been shot multiple times, including a wound to the chest.
The victim was transported to a local hospital, where authorities report he remains in critical condition.
Investigators are currently piecing together the timeline of events from the time the suspect arrived at the residence up until the shooting occurred. Bryant police confirmed that no other suspects are being sought in connection with the shooting, and there is no active danger to the public.
Shepherd’s bond is set at $20,000. Further details will be released as the investigation progresses.
