The Arkansas State Police arrested Brian Keith Cooper. His file currently shows 22 counts of Pandering Or Possessing Visual Or Print Medium Depicting Sexually Explicit. Cooper is also charged with Rape, 2 counts of Sexual Assault In The Second Degree, and Sexually Grooming A Child.
Cooper was formerly a member of law enforcement at the City of Haskell. According to a Haskell City Council member, Cooper and his father, also named Brian Cooper, were both discharged from their duties with the Police Department due to inappropriate contact with minors.
The Council Member also said the two were stripped from the ability to be a police officer again. We hope to provide documentation on that incident in an update. The weekend makes it more difficult.
The younger Mr. Cooper was most recently serving as a firefighter with Turtle Creek Fire Department.
The Benton Police Department arrested Dylan McLean. This arrest does not seem to be related to Mr. Cooper. He is currently showing two counts of Possession Or Use Of Child Sexual Abuse Material. There may be another arrest related to McLean, according to a source at the Benton Police Department.
Neither subject shows a bond amount, and won’t see a judge for a hearing until after the weekend. They are both at the Saline County Detention Center. MySaline will update this story as more information becomes available.
