The Benton Historic District Commission has scheduled a public meeting for September 3rd to interview new applicants for commission seats and discuss upcoming nominations to the National Register of Historic Places. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall. Read more below.
According to the published meeting agenda, the commission, led by Chairman Brett Chumley, will focus on interviewing three applicants who wish to join the Historic District Commission. The applicants are Jana Hogue, Jessica Stoltzfus, and Kevin Malone.
In addition to the applicant interviews, Chairman Chumley is scheduled to lead a discussion on Forum 2026.
The commission’s staff liaison, Director of Community Development Jason Lyon, will also provide an update on the Historic District Commission’s Certified Local Government (CLG) grant.
Finally, Commissioners are slated to discuss upcoming nominations to the National Historic Registry, which recognizes properties and districts of historic significance.
