Construction to widen Interstate 30 to six lanes in Saline County requires a significant overnight closure of I-30 westbound at Exit 114, including the closure of Highway 67/229 below the overpass, according to Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) officials.
Weather permitting, crews will close all I-30 westbound lanes between the exit and entrance ramps at Haskell Exit 114 on Friday night, May 21 from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. This closure will allow crews to make pavement repairs to the I-30 westbound bridge. Westbound traffic will use the Exit 114 off and on-ramps at Highway 67/229 to avoid the interstate closure.
Traffic will be controlled with construction barricades, traffic barrels and signage. The public is advised to be cautious when traveling in the work zone and watch for slower traffic speeds. Areas adjacent to the Interstate may experience noise impacts during nighttime hours.
This project (Job CA0601) is part of ARDOT’s Connecting Arkansas Program and includes widening 5.5 miles of Interstate 30 to three lanes in each direction, from the interchange with U.S. Highway 70 (Exit 111) to Sevier Street in Benton (Exit 116). The project also includes improvements at the Highway 67 interchange (Exit 114). More information on this $187.3 million project is available at ConnectingArkansasProgram.com.
Drivers should exercise caution when approaching and traveling through all highway work zones. Additional travel information can be found at IDriveArkansas.com or ARDOT.gov. You can also follow us on Twitter @IDriveArkansas for traffic and @myARDOT for everything else.
Saline Resident W of bridge says
ARDOT needs to be questioned as to why only Tues they sent notifications via IDRIVE when doing work and traffic was delayed. The rest of the week daily traffic was backed up close to 10 moles at times, entrance ramps closed, Hwy police doing rolling stops, and no info provided by ARDOT although they continued to update current info in other counties along w info on closings that will take place in the future in other counties. Major fail on their part to drivers that depend on their updates.

You can always call ARDOT at 501-569-2000 and ask for the public information office. Alternately, you can use the contact page on their website. https://www.ardot.gov/contact-ardot/

Time to hit up your local rep’s and find out WHO signed off on this bridge being safe for travel.
This bridge has been shut down several times over the past week for ‘repairs’. There are chunks of asphalt on and under this bridge everywhere.
Who’s paying for this?
This failure should NOT fall on the good citizens of Arkansas.
