Two Saline County teams headed to State basketball championships Mar 14 & 15

If you weren’t watching the high school basketball state championship this week, you missed two Saline County teams – Benton Panthers and Bryant Hornets – each powering through opponents to position themselves for the State Championship games in their respective conferences.

BOYS

🏀 6A

In the 6A boys bracket, Bryant Hornets and Springdale Bulldogs each started out in this 2025 Arkansas Centennial Bank State Basketball Tournament with a bye, meaning they ranked high enough to skip the first round of competition.

Bryant beat Bentonville 81-60 in the 2nd round, then Har-Ber 92-79 in their semi-final game. Meanwhile, Springdale passed up LR Central 84-47, then Jonesboro 57-44 to match up with the Hornets to vy for the championship. The 6A championship game will be Saturday, March 15th at 1:45 p.m.

BOYS

🏀 5A

The 5A boys final game will feature Benton Panthers versus Maumelle Hornets, who each had to win three games to get to the finals. Benton beat West Memphis 78-50 in the 1st round, LR Christian 85-82 in the 2nd, and Marion 71-50 in their semi-finals. Maumelle won against Russellville 97-67, then Hot Springs 86-75, and Catholic 69-44, and will now face the Panthers. The 5A championship game will be Friday, March 14th at 7:45 p.m.

GIRLS

While our Saline County girls teams didn’t make it to the championship game, it takes a lot of talent, work and determination to get to to finals tournament at all.

🏀 6A

The 6A Bryant Hornets girls lost to Bentonville 28-57. Northside will face Fayetteville in the final game.

🏀 5A

5A Benton Panthers girls beat Marion in the 1st round 44-41, then lost to Farmington in the 2nd with a score of 29-77. Farmington and Vilonia will face off in the championship game.

Clear bags (one per person) will be allowed as long as they are smaller than 14 x 14 inches.
