Sen. Boozman to witness “Rapid DNA” at Saline County Detention Center Oct. 20th
U.S. Sen. John Boozman will visit the Saline County Detention Center on Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2026, to observe the facility’s newly implemented Rapid DNA system at its booking station. Saline County is the first detention facility in Arkansas and among the first nationwide to deploy the crime-solving booking technology. Read more below.
The media demonstration is scheduled from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the detention center, located at 735 S. Neeley St. in Benton, followed by a private meeting between Boozman and local government officials.
Boozman secured a $1 million federal investment in Fiscal Year 2024 to fund the pilot program. Arkansas is the third state in the United States to launch Rapid DNA technology at a booking station, allowing law enforcement officers to process DNA samples and receive verified results significantly faster than traditional laboratory testing to help identify connections to unsolved crimes.
County leaders commended the technology’s potential to assist criminal investigations and enhance public safety.
“We’re honored to welcome Senator Boozman to Saline County and appreciate his support in bringing Rapid DNA technology to our Detention Center,” said Saline County Judge Matt Brumley. “We’re proud to be leading the way in Arkansas with technology that will strengthen law enforcement’s ability to solve crimes and keep our communities safe.”
Saline County Sheriff Rodney Wright echoed Brumley’s sentiment, emphasizing how rapid processing aids investigators in developing leads quickly.
“Rapid DNA technology is a tremendous advancement for law enforcement, giving our investigators the ability to obtain critical information faster and pursue leads that could help solve crimes,” Wright said. “We’re grateful for Senator Boozman’s support in bringing this technology to Saline County and proud to be the first in Arkansas to put this valuable tool to work.”
