Arkansas State Police troopers seized nearly 60 pounds of illegal marijuana, 200 grams of THC vape products, and more than $4,500 in cash during two traffic stops on Interstate 40 in Pope County on Wednesday, Sept. 23.
Three individuals were arrested and booked into the Pope County Detention Center following the back-to-back highway busts. Read more below.
The stops occurred less than two hours apart along eastbound lanes of I-40 near London.
The first incident occurred around 2:15 p.m. near mile marker 72 when troopers pulled over an eastbound Nissan Rogue for traffic violations. A search of the vehicle revealed suitcases containing 30 individually packaged bundles of marijuana, weighing approximately 30 pounds.

The driver, Darnell Keith Russell Reed, 39, and passenger, Ashley Renee Carter, 36, both of Waynesboro, Virginia, were arrested at the scene. Troopers also confiscated $4,510 in cash from Carter.
Both Reed and Carter were charged with possession of a controlled substance with purpose to deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia. Reed was also cited for driving on a suspended license.
Around 4:15 p.m., troopers initiated a second traffic stop near mile marker 77 after pulling over an eastbound Ford Bronco Sport for a traffic violation. A search uncovered 29 vacuum-sealed packages containing approximately 29 pounds of marijuana, along with 100 THC vape cartridges.
The driver, Jermaine Bowers, 35, was arrested and transported to the Pope County Detention Center, where he was charged with possession of a controlled substance with purpose to deliver.
Arkansas State Police confirmed that the investigation remains ongoing.
