Law enforcement advises families to designate an adult to handle and ignite all fireworks.
Residents should also keep a hose or a bucket of water nearby to extinguish any stray flames and to fully douse used fireworks and sparklers before throwing them in the trash.

Officials also ask residents to be mindful of some in the community – for example veterans and pets – may be especially subscription to being disturbed by loud noises.
The Marshal’s Office recommends keeping dogs and cats safely indoors during the celebrations, as fireworks often cause pets to panic and flee.
