Steve Brown of Benton announced today that he will be a candidate for State Representative in District 82, which includes most of Benton, Bauxite and part of Bryant. Brown has served as Alderman for Ward 1 on Benton City Council for the past six years.
“I am excited to announce my candidacy for the Republican nomination for State Representative in District 82,” said Brown. “Benton, Bryant, and Bauxite have all been recognized as some of the fastest-growing communities in the state. That growth presents unique challenges – challenges that require strong, proven leaders who can build relationships and develop long-term strategic solutions that both protect and benefit the citizens of Saline County.”
Mr. Brown has a long track record of community service and leadership. For nearly 13 years, he has served as CEO of Alcoa Community Federal Credit Union. Since 2019, he has represented Ward 1 on the Benton City Council, where he has chaired the Finance Committee and served as liaison to the A&P Commission. For the past seven years, he has also served on the Saline County Equalization Board, where he is currently Chairman.
His community involvement includes five years on the Benton Parks Commission, much of that time as Chairman; six year on the Benton Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, where he served as Chairman in 2019; and several years as President of the Benton Athletic Booster Club.
“As a proven conservative leader, I intend – if elected – to bring the same enthusiasm and thoughtful leadership I’ve demonstrated on the Benton City Council and in all of my community roles over the past two decades,” Brown said. “I have strong relationships with key leaders in Benton, Bryand, Bauxite, and all across Saline County, and I’ve shown how those relationships can deliver real results for Benton and for the county.”
