The Department of Health has released the “Boil Water” Notice confirmed on 10/21/2019 for the customers listed below. This order was issued as a precautionary measure because of the possibility that contaminated water may have entered the distribution system as a result of complete loss in normal system pressure.
Bacteriological samples taken on Tuesday, October 22, 2019 were found to be free of bacterial contamination and a satisfactory disinfectant level has been established throughout the distribution system. The water is therefore considered safe for human consumption and the “Boil Water” notice is hereby lifted.
According to Benton Utilities, early Monday, October 21, 2019, a Water Distribution Crew was notified a Water Main was broken on the Old Hot Springs Highway (Hwy. 5 South). The crew worked around 6 hours to make the necessary repairs. The water supply to several customers was interrupted for most of this time while the crew made the repairs. This service interruption requires the water department to issue a precautionary boil order. The Health Dept. requires this order to be issued because of the possibility of contaminated water entering the distributions system as the result of the line compromise and complete loss of normal system pressure in your area.
The following customers are affected:
• Miller Cove Subdivision,
• Beverly Dr.,
• Benton First Assembly of God Church
• and any other residential or business customers who experienced an outage in this area Monday morning and afternoon.
Under the “Boil Order” Notice, all affected customers are advised that the water may be unsafe for human consumption, and water used for drinking or food preparation must be boiled briskly for one (1) minutes prior to use. All ice cubes should be discarded and only boiled water used for making ice.
This notice will be lifted by the Arkansas Department of Health when one set of bacteriological samples indicates that the water is free of bacterial contamination, and an adequate disinfectant level is established throughout the distribution system.
