The City of Benton is celebrating Independence Day by hosting a drive-in fireworks show on Thursday, July 2nd, at 9:30 p.m. at the the River Center at 1800 Citizens Drive. The event is sponsored by Everett Chevrolet and First Security Bank.
View the fireworks show from inside your vehicle in the parking lots surrounding the River Center and at the Saline County Fairgrounds, but do not park at Holland Chapel. There will be music for the show that will air on the radio.
If you exit your vehicle, follow the social distancing guidelines, and also remember to wear a face covering.
This event is free and open to the public. If a rain date is necessary, it will be announced as soon as the date is determined.

It says above that the fireworks will BEGIN at 9:30. We brought our 6 year old granddaughter a little early, arriving about 9:00. We were just in time for the grand finale. What happened to the time?
Shelli Poole says
The city had to start the show earlier because of the rain. We posted the update on our social media.

Where is the River Center?
Shelli Poole says
Hi Edith, thanks for asking. I have updated the article with additional information about the location an where to park. The fireworks can actually be seen from a good distance, so it’s not necessary to park at the River Center. Many people park at the fairgrounds or at Sunset Park or across the interstate (north side).
