Women’s Own Worth (WOW) is an organization dedicated to helping victims of domestic violence to gain their independence. One of the ways they do it is through a college scholarship. It’s now the time of year to submit an application for this scholarship of $1,000.
This year’s Saline County Scholarship is special for those who knew Kala (Porter) Swaims who lost her life to domestic violence in December of 2018. The 2019 scholarship will be given in her memory. This WOW scholarship is only for women/men in Saline County, Arkansas who are survivors of violence and enrolled in the upcoming Summer or Fall Semester of 2019. Submissions are due March 1st, 2019 (this includes Cosmetology, Vo-Tech, Any Trade School, etc.). Only winners will hear from WOW once they are chosen. In order to be considered for this scholarship you must be a survivor of violence and plan on attending school in the upcoming semester. You must agree to your story possibly being used for future projects to provide awareness about domestic violence. Your name and others will remain anonymous.
