Hey David, a question, or clarification on your post about the carpetbaggers in the County Judge/Confederate Flag thread. Do you mean carpetbaggers are Yankees or it referred to the Southerners who remained here after the War. I had always thought the term carpetbagger referred to yankees who came down here to take advantage of the reconstruction (and the residents) after the Civil War. Named such because they arrived on trains carrying their possessions in carpet bags.
I ask because Dad had made a reference once about a nearby county in which some kin lived which was full of carpet baggers. So - who were the carpet baggers?
I thought I'd ask you in comments instead of cluttering the thread up since it's already gone so far off topic.
David, I told Ron once about going up in a plane with you. and the whole 'touch and go landing thing. He still think his flying with Wade Eaves trumph our flights. I think it pretty much is even money.
I could do fine monograph about the the Courier and me and yall.
But it would cause to to cry. and drink even more than I normally do...
Hi David...I got your message this morning at the office, but the number you left for me to call you back at was my office number! Call again? Thanks! Jill :)
Hi David,
The house I live in is in Central Texas. I think I do remember the one you used as a studio in Benton because I think you took my wedding pictures there. Great pictures by the way, even if the marriage didn't last.
Thanks David for your comment. The county and city employees are not allowed to work on private property. Not sure what we will do to solve this problem. More than likely will try to raise money to have a tree company do the work. One tree is about 4 ft in diamiter and 120 ft high. The otherf one about half that size but is about 100 ft high. Anyway I am working on it. And no, no one else but you has made a suggestion or comment. Thanks again....Joe Lee
Hi tried to leave a PM for you but couldn't find a link. Can you email me at tsewnhoj@gmail.com. I have some slingbox questions for you. Thanks. - John
Your longtime friend Don White was not "wishy-washy" tonight. He asked the Benton City Council to provide (1) bullet to former Police Chief Gary Sipes so that Mr. Sipes could blow his brains out.
Hi David,
I remember you :) You were at every school event ever held I think! Thanks for all your years at the Courier. I had family and friends who worked there for years.

I am from Benton - graduated in 1967 from BHS and worked at the Saline County News, Benton Courier and Saline County Pacesetter as a photographer as well as a dispatcher for the Benton Police for a time and in my youth I worked a few shifts at KBBA. My daughter is a teacher in the Benton School system and I still have many life-long friends in Saline County. My body may be here in Virginia, but my heart is still at home in Benton.
I don't know how are why you are a member here if you live so far away, but you seem very knowledgeable and I thank you for sharing your voice of experience with our community.
