It's really pretty easy. A moderator on MySaline is more like a hall monitor. You don't need any special admin permissions or passwords. You just need to help read all the comments to be sure everyone is adhering to the site policy. When a post or comment looks like it falls outside of the site policy, you copy and paste the text + the page link and send it to my email or text.
My goal when MySaline began was to build community. Negativity, personal attacks, blanket statements and all that mess do absolutely nothing to help accomplish that goal. I realize there will be controversial things to talk about, and members will have opinions on extreme ends from each other, but we have to be sure we don't forget our manners online. I want us to behave as we would if we were talking to one another in person - as if we were neighbors. After all, we are.
I know that when things get heated, folks can forget themselves and go off all qwerty crazy. (Did I spell "qwerty" right? I try pretty hard to be a good girl and not hit the submit button for a minute. Or maybe like thirty minutes sometimes. I've deleted a lot of my responses and come up with something that conveyed the same thing - but without the wrath of laser cats tainting the message.
If you agree with keeping the conversation engaging without having to go medieval, and you're a good reader of stuffs, please comment or message me and I'll add a little star to your icon for being a moderator, aka, part of the MySaline Army. See the star on my profile pic? You too could sparkle! No one will ever know which moderator turned them in. We don't want your house to get TP'd. (Or do we?)
