All right guys this post is for all the members that live within the corporate city limits of Benton. This post is in regards to the sign ordinance that was passed on August 5, 2009. It is a small section of Ordinance 46 of 2009. This section (2.03.1) is for Political Signs. It states the following:
No permit is required. Political signs shall be removed within 14 days after primary/general election or election which they pertain whichever is sooner. Political Signs may not be posted earlier than 90 days prior to a primary/general election. Political signs may be located no closer than 8 feet from edge of payment. Large signs (32 sq ft or larger) may be located on private property as long as they do note pose a line of sight issue with traffic and are located at a minimum of 8 feet or further from the paved surface. Line of sight will be determined by Code Enforcement/ Community Development.
I thought this would be a good post since we have elections coming in the near future and I have seen a couple of signs out for candidates already. I just wanted to let everyone know we have a new ordinance that addresses this issue unlike in the years past. Have a safe and nice February. Do not forget your loved ones on valentines day.
