This Bothers Me
I have long been concerned about whether or not our sheriff's, past and present, run a background check on the officers they hire. In a recent meeting with Mike Frost, this topic came up. I questioned whether it made sense to have a detective who had been arrested in the past for selling drugs out of a Benton PD squad car. In response to my question, I was given a sermon on forgiveness.
Likewise, the fact that another current employee, who appears to be an administrator of Pennington's Bruce4Sheriff website, also has a "checkered" past. I just don't understand how you can expect respect for an administration that doesn't mind that their deputies have a criminal background.
For Henry, who does not like to read documents, I will summarize:
On July 18, 2005, Richard Scott, Saline County Deputy Sheriff, was arrested for 3rd degree domestic battery. The investigating officer wrote in his report that Scott was drinking at a bar in Little Rock where his X-wife was a waitress. Scott wanted her to enter a wet shirt contest and she refused. He became angy and punched her in the left eye where she had visible injuries. The officer states that Scott was visibly intoxicated. He was transported to jail.

You asked....you got a honest answer. Just because you dont like it does not mean it didnt happen.
Has anyone put two and two together on here? Almost all the supporters for Pennington on here are related to LEOs? Why is it that average citizens do not support Pennington? Can we say Good ol boy system?

@Cruze, I have not the foggest idea what goes on in these meetings! So ill say nothing about them, except that none of us know what happens in them because we arent there!!

Actually i did have the opportunity to sit beside them one morning. I did not hear one word spoken about crime in Saline county, it was just a bunch of laughing and talking about BS. I figure thats how most of these meetings go.

No Casey, I can't say that I have ever had a conversation with Mr. Scott! I am married to a police officer though!
Question? How do you know what goes on in these meetings? Are you present during each and every one? Unless you are, then once again, its all hearsay!

Whos life has she ruined? She made no one do the actions that was mentioned in these reports. He did...if anyone ruined his life then it was his actions.
If Pennington is so known for bringing law enforcment together like no other sheriff, then why can he not do this with the FBI on the Ives case? Why does he not even try? This originated in Saline County and thats where it should be driven from. Pennington meets with the people concerned with the case on a monthly basis, no one ever answered the question of "Do they discuss this case amoung the other crimes they claim to be talking about?" They say that is what these meeting are about. I bet its more of a good ol boy breakfast than a true metting about crime.

@ Katee, Please get the issue right. We all know that the deaths of these boys are part of the Mena Connection but . . . this crime was committed in Saline County and for the investigation (which affords the answers) to not die, it is the Sheriffs Departments (orgininating agency) responsibiity to do so ! Besides why can't the Sheriff just be a nice human being and a understanding, concerned Sheriff period ? Your last statement explains it " This is above and beyond SCSO "
