If your Publisher's Clearinghouse entry envelope didn't come on Friday, well then you can take a day off from waiting by the mailbox. Scratch that - two days off. See, the Postal Service has been researching and thinking and mulling on it for a while now and they have finally decided to ditch Saturday delivery once August rolls around.
Not all services will be shut down on Saturdays. If you have a package coming (your t-shirt from the MySaline store), you'll still get it on Saturday, and your local Post Office will still be open and you make transactions at the counter and check your P.O. box.
The USPS posted the following statement on their Facebook page:
In studies conducted by the Postal Service and independently by major news outlets, nearly seven out of ten Americans supported switching to a five-day mail delivery schedule to reduce costs. Comment by Al Smith on February 8, 2013 at 2:31pm Not yet; only if it passes congress and the President signs it. The PO has been forced in paying BILLIONS of dollars into future health and retirement benefits of 75 years. No other government Job has to do so. It was passed under the Bush admin. That was a Post Office add you see. I do not believe this present congress nor this Pres. will allow such a change to happen
