I recently saw a political party downtown Benton on our local news shouting "No more taxes"
I missed their objective. I wish they could have elaborated and made good use of their airtime. Advertisers pay good money for it. No one wants new taxes.
When I look at my monthly income and deductions, taxes are the least of my worries.
It is the cost of health insurance. As an employee of the state the going rate for employee and spouse is close to $400 a month. At this time, the state does not mandate, I elect.
The media reflects an indignation and outrage that the goverment is infringing on our rights with a law mandating the purchase?/participation? of health insurance.
The headlines read "Appeal Obamacare" Politicians are promising "If elected...."
I have not read or have no intention of reading the so called 1,200 page law. This 1,200 pages is a reflection of party lines drawn so deep nothing good comes of it.
State Law under Financial Responsibility requires anyone whom wishes to drive an automobile to purchase and show proof of insurance. I believe the current minimum to be 25/50/25. Pretty sure this law is not 1,200 pages long.
If you want to participate in the health care system meet your Financial Responsibility.
Looking for answers.

From my personal experience nursing homes in our area range from $2,000 to $5,000 monthly depending on the level of care. They have created as the doc said inexpensive hotels. The alternative if able is to pay a person to stay at home with an individual who otherwise would be institutionlized. This can cut the cost by more than half. But some of these agencies are only in for the medicare dollars and I have witnessed first hand, employees driving company cars, finding places to park and hide and play on their phones while they should be on the job.
But enough being negative and things I cannot change. My uncle was retired from the state, and at the age of 67 had a 4-wheeler accident that left him as a quadrapligic? He was in and out of the VA and due to his level of care and lack of facilities he ended up a nursing home in Malvern. He passed in June 2006 and I donated his personal effects (the residents there appreciate any donations) As I walked down the hall to leave, guess what they asked for "blankets" It was June and hot and they wanted blankets. I would love to have a blanket drive. Used blankets would be fine, the type they could fold and use in their wheel chair.
Did you catch 30rock on nbc last night with it's story about patients who are admitted to the hospital but never leave and it is all on the taxpayers. One doc said it would be cheaper to put these people in an expensive hotel. No one can be turned down for treatment even those with no insurance and if they are ready to go to a nursing home but can't pay for it then the hospital keeps them sometimes for years. Sara
