Disney world here we come (with a side trip to Savannah)

Well our dates are set and our reservations made for our first ever (and probably last) trip to Disney World. Dale comes home every day asking if we are leaving yet. He just does not understand that we have to wait until June to go. I am seeking any advice from people who have been to Disney World on what activities we should do and where we should go and see while at Disney. If you have any good web-sites this would be helpful also. We really want to make this a special trip for Baley and Dale and one they will remember for the rest of their lives.

We are also going to visit Savannah for a few days since it is only 4 hours from Orlando. I planned this part of the vacation just so I can go eat at Lady and Son’s . If you have any good suggestions for Savannah I would appreciate them also.

As I've learned by trial and error, heavy on the error part, you really need to have an itinerary of sorts when you travel with kids. The 4 parks are absolutely ginormous, and not all children can ride all rides. There are places on disneyworld.com where you can go and check the minimum ride height and thrill factor. There are a lot of fun tidbits, too, like sitting in the front couple of rows at the Lion King show, and the kids can be picked to BE in the show, but they never get the kids from the top of the bleachers! The best time to go to Magic Kingdom is during mid-week, when it's much less busy, and watch the 3:00 parade from the back of the park so you can be first on the Big Thunder and Splash Mountain rides when the parade is over! We all need to get together at Let's Go Eat! this month and talk some Disney.

Disney World was my best trip ever! I'm dying to go back. It's been 9 years since we went but seems like yesterday. My favorite things were the hot dogs, Lion King, and Rockin Rollercoaster. I am so jealous!!!!

We are going to sea world in Orlando while on vacation as well. The great thing is everything will be paid for in advance. I can not wait. I will be off for a few weeks.

We are going to take Barrett to Seaworld in San Antonio, TX in early April. I guess that's what we are going to do for Jeffrey's 40th birthday. My mom bought us tickets and hotel money for Christmas!! I love San Antonio. Seaworld is a much cheaper trip..and would be just as fun for kiddos. You need to try to take them there one day.

Dawn, try the www.allears.net site. They have an email newsletter that is really helpful. It includes tips from people who have recently visited the park and covera a wide rage of interests.

I am so jealous. My Emily is only 4 and is already asking when we can go. I want to go to Savannah too. Apparently there are like 3 restaurants Paula Dean has there now. One is run by her brother. I think it is called Bubba's and is seafood. I hope you guys have a great time.

Buy Birnbaum's 2009 guide! I buy one every year. It's the best. You have to eat at Tony's in Magic Kingdom. It's theme is Lady and the Tramp. The Italian food is delicious. We spent the least amount of time at MGM, now Hollywood Studios. It was not near as fun, but that was 3 years ago. We spent the most time at Epcot, the World Showcase to be exact. It was fantastic. Animal Kingdom is great and so is Magic Kingdom. I loved it all. Be sure and keep up with the schedule of what characters are going to be where. That is the best part. Your kiddos will love getting their picture taken with characters. Go see all the shows you can. They are a blast! It's so worth the money..but in June, it's going to be HOT!

Well we are going for the second time in March. You will have soo much fun. Have you ordered your dvd from disney yet? If not I have a couple and I will get it to you. What we did was divide the number of days you are going to be there by the number of parks and factored in the nightly shows at each. In short you're gonna be moving quickly. I once saw a web site that shows how to get the most from your disney trip. I will see if I can find it. The rides are out of this world, but if you get in line quickly before the shows start most times, the characters will walk up to and even get the kids involved in the shows. Its so much fun.
