Bryant Police Chief Mark Kizer is the subject of discussion in a personnel inquiry after political wannabe James Ward objected to his appearance on a local talk radio show.

Kizer was a guest on the radio show "Singles and Exes," a show about relationships and dating when you're not exactly age 20 anymore. MySaline founder Shelli Russell and longtime friend, Tanya Smith co-host the show Saturdays at 10pm on KARN.

At the beginning of the show on January 12th - the one with Kizer guesting - Shelli called Tanya "Triple X," referring to her three previous divorces. It is assumed that it's at this point James Ward developed the following Facebook post:

• Local Police Chief should not be hosting an X-Rated show on live radio. You sir are held to a higher standard. KARN 102.9 should be ashamed for having this smut on air.

That post was pasted into an email by former Bryant City Alderman Danny Steele and sent to all current Alderman, but interestingly, not to Mayor Jill Dabbs, who appointed Kizer. That might be because when Steele was an Alderman, he and two other Alderman would disagree with the Mayor on a great many things.

The most notable disagreement was whether Dabbs should even stay in office. Steele and Aldermen Adrian Henley and Brenda Miller went so far as publishing a website, ImprovingBryant.com (offline but archived), dedicated to bashing Dabbs and forming a petition to remove her from office. The petition did not garner enough signatures.

Readers of MySaline.com may remember Steele, Henley and Miller as the ones who subpoenaed MySaline for members' private browsing information, including ip addresses. (See links after this paragraph) They hoped to find the identity of several anonymous bloggers who were bashing them on the site. District Judge Gary Arnold ruled that the comments made by the bloggers fell within their rights under the First Amendment.

Back to the present drama, Mayor Dabbs did eventually receive the email containing Ward's Facebook comment... Alderman Miller sent it to the head of Human Resources, who then sent it to the Mayor.

Within a day, the HR Head, Shari Knight, emailed the Singles and Exes hosts, requesting a recording or transcript of the show featuring Kizer. A link to the show in question was provided for City Council's review, to determine whether Chief Kizer should be reprimanded.
