On 1/14/13, at approximately 12:52 PM, officers responded to 1006 Holly Drive on report of a residential burglary in progress. Upon their arrival officers determined the rear door to the residence had been forced open, but that the suspects had fled the scene. Officers searching the area around the home found one suspect that subsequently fled from them on foot.
The suspect, later identified as Bobby Smith (W/M, 37 YOA), was later apprehended after a short foot pursuit. Another suspect, Jennifer Brock (W/F, 30 YOA) was arrested a short time later in the area in relation to the crime.
Smith is charged with Residential Burglary, Possession of a Firearm by a Certain Person, Theft of Property, and Criminal Mischief. Additionally, Smith is also currently a parolee and had active warrants out of Saline Count at the time of arrest. Brock is charged with Residential Burglary, Theft of Property, Criminal Mischief, and Theft of Property. This is still an on-going investigation and there could be further charges possible in the future.
The successful conclusion to this crime was in large part due to an observant neighbor who witnessed the suspects breaking into the residence and making us aware of it. It demonstrates the core teachings of the neighborhood watch program by looking out for each other and reporting suspicious acts to the police department.
