Hi folks, this is my first blog for mysaline.com. Thanks to Shelli Russell for allowing me to have my own little Rooster Coop on the site to vent, chat, talk about my travels, etc. Many folks in central Arkansas already know me. Most know I can be rather opinionated on something I feel strong about. In this blog, I will cover things that bother me, like government stupidity, waste, taxes, and inefficiency. While I’m a conservative when it comes to politics, I’m not exactly onboard with Republicans all the time. I’ve grown tired of our bickering political world and frankly compare it to sports in which people pick a team to support as a diehard fan. Kind of like me being a big Cowboys fan in the ‘90s even though I knew they were a bunch of thugs at the time. Or pro wrestling, even though we know it’s fake… like politics? I’m about solutions, cutting government, taxes, and going back to the basics that made this country great.
I’m also a recording artist in the world of music. In my travels, I’ve been fortunate to meet and perform with many great artists, some of which I looked up to when I was a teenager, learning to play and write music in Saline County in the 1970s. When I’m not ranting about whatever may have chapped my rear politically, I’ll be sharing some of my stories in the blogs, including working with Johnny Cash, ZZ Top, and many others. My music is available on iTunes, and we have a new CD project being released this month. SHIPP- Crow Loudly, will be available soon. My band includes fellow Arkansans, Jai Lambert (Little Rock) and Kenny Hall (raised in Benton).
We will debut our brand new show at Riverfest on May 26th. More about that later.
With my lovely wife Kim (LWK), we have our hands full with our little Rooster, Peyton (8yrs) and little Chic, Presley (5yrs). Therefore, if my writing looks as if I may have lost my thought process, it’s probably because I had several “hey Daddy” breaks in between sentences. At least that’s a good excuse, since I am dealing with what’s left over of a one track mind. To me, multi-tasking simply means screwing up several things at once.
I suppose I’m the only guitar-slinging rock star in America that has won two elections to a school board. Maybe I’m the Arkansas version of Ted Nugent, although I haven’t said anything stupid over an open mic about our President recently. Yep, I like Uncle Ted, but he crossed the line, and I figure he knows it. Nevertheless, I’m always on the side of our right to free speech. I look forward to writing my thoughts down, well, typing them into a Mac. I guess we don’t really physically write anymore. I hope you will read The Rooster Trail often, send me your comments or questions. We’ll have some fun along the Trail.
