To Haskell residents who were affected by the boil order a few days ago, according to the Arkansas Department of Health, it has been lifted and you may safely use water for drinking and cooking, without having to boil it.

Thursday night, June 30th, 2016, the City of Bryant hosted an open house event for residents at their Fire Station #3 on Justus Loop. There were inflatables for kids, free hot dogs and drinks and tours of the facility. Bryant is seeking to extend a bond to fund programs for streets, safety and parks. According to Saline County Clerk, Doug Curtis, Arkansans can access their voter information with an online tool at www.voterview.org. Created by Arkansas Secretary of State Mark Martin, the website gives users information based on their political party, polling location, and voting districts. The days of which fireworks can be displayed by the public has been extended this year due to a resolution passed by the Benton City Council. Citizens may now shoot off fireworks starting Saturday, July 2 between the hours of 10 a.m. and 10 p.m., without being in violation of the city’s noise ordinance.

According to a reliable source, Haskell Police has shifted command. I called Haskell Mayor Janie Lyman for a comment. She confirmed what I heard - that long-time officer Michael Hardester has been appointed as the new Police Chief. Lyman stated that Hardester has worked as a patrol officer for the City of Haskell for many years, and was the lieutenant for the last 18 months.
