Benton County GOP April newsletter article 'Scathing'

We need to let those who will come in the future to represent us [know] that we are serious. The 2nd amendment means nothing unless those in power believe you would have no problem simply walking up and shooting them if they got too far out of line and stopped responding as representatives. It seems that we are unable to muster that belief in any of our representatives on a state or federal level, but we have to have something, something costly, something that they will fear that we will use if… Continue

Is Halloween of the Devil?

Even though I am not Catholic, I thought this post on the internet gave great insight into the origins of Halloween (and Christmas).  How many of you knew that Christmas and Halloween were banned by the Puritans and not revived until the 1800's?

A Controversial Holiday:

Every year, a debate rages among Catholics and other Christians: Is Halloween a satanic holiday or merely a secular one? Should Catholic children dress up like ghosts and goblins? Is…

Jewelery

I love to put beads into a chain to adorn throats. These are 17" long and on stretch cord. I can custom make anything you need to match your outfit. If you prefer a longer strand(s) or a clasp in the back, I can do that too.  The ones pictured are $20 each. Matching earrings are no problem. tpepoole@swbell.net

Chicken Swap (3 times this spring)

My granddaughter and I were at the Farmer's Coop buying cool weather seeds. We commented that we had no chickens to swap. The sales lady told us to come pick up some then.  I don't need any, but I know there are those of you who are chicken lovers. I love chickens, just don't need them that close to me. I'm not…

Benton School District Hanging Kids Out to Dry -- This could be your child.

My child was a 9th grade student in the Benton School District at Benton Junior High until he was recently expelled on December 12th for distribution of drugs.  He had oral surgery in August and mentioned to another child that he was given pain medication after the surgery but that he did not take it all. That child asked my child to bring him the leftover pills (ten or eleven pills total), and my child did just that. The child he gave the pills to in turn shared them…

Letter Re: Benton HS Dedication

Tuesday evening (9/13) at 6 pm is the public dedication/open house for the remodeled Benton High School (everyone invited). Former board member Sam Stueart penned the letter below and submitted it to the Courier for publication. The Courier declined to print it stating “that the timing makes it too political” and “it waves the Prothro flag at the wrong time”. (Of course it is just coincidence, nothing political, about the open house being on the eve of early voting for two incumbent board… Continue

Weather appreciated

Summer has been tough.  The days are becoming much more bearable.  Today was absolutely  Beautiful!  My backyard gardens of perenials that survived the drought are now in bloom.  It is almost like Spring.  Amazing.
