I Wonder... Are You Willing to Help MySaline?

Did you know that if every MySaline member donated one dollar a month, the site would be completely self-sustaining and there would be not even be a need for advertising here?  But you can probably guess that 100% participation in donating even just one dollar is not likely. I could throw the biggest party and invite everyone I know and maybe only 20% of those people would show…

A Little Foolin, A Little Gettin Banned - Shelli's column 040410

It’s been the first week of April and you may have found yourself “fooling” someone, or perhaps you on the other end of that relationship, playing the fool yourself. I've got to tell you about an experience I had three years ago, with a website called Freecycle.com. It's a forum or sorts where you post one of two things. You're either offering something for free or you want something for free.

Here's the post I made (edited) at BentonArkansas.blogspot.com on April 1st, 2007, titled… Continue

Who needs Xanax? We've got FISHING!

Boy, the great outdoors! There is truly nothing like getting right out there with Mother Nature to take the nervous edge off our lives - right?  Well, maybe not so much.

It'd be a safe bet that nearly every Arkansan has at least one fishing-related story to tell.  Some good, some bad, some to be taken with a grain of salt.

I started fishing as a young child when my grandpa Irvin F. Powell had 128 acres in Gravel Ridge that we all just called "The Farm".  He didn't live there. …

There's a New Site Policy for MySaline. Don't. Not. Read. This.

MySaline.com

There's a brand new site policy. Make sure you are familiar with it. Enforcing this policy is my least favorite part of the job. I've copied the new site policy below. I am Incensed About the Way Bryant's Millage Election Was (Not) Publicized

Ladies and gentlemen you will on rare occasion see me get incensed about something going on in our community. This is not going to be a "right here in River City" kind of talk, but I can tell you that what has happened is wrong, and should never ever happen again.

I don't care if you're looking for a billion dollars or a penny from each household…

Saline County and surrounding areas show love for Israel

Have you seen the white signs with red lettering in your neighbors' yards, saying "Stand With Israel"?  I have.  I have seen several.  One is in my sister's yard in Bryant.  More people are talking about Israel, too.  Have you noticed?

You can spot the Israel-lovers if you look and listen.  You may see a lady in a Christian church, wearing a Star of David pendant.  My husband wears a menorah ring every Sunday.  This Sunday, in Sunday school, I came across another one.  She…
