I kept my 5 year old Grandson, Kyle one week in September. On Friday morning he got up and wanted to show me something, I followed him to the bedroom and he had made his bed, even “the top blanket” as he called the bedspread and he had put the pillows in place. He was so proud! I fixed him some oatmeal, he ate it all, no fuss, no mess, no whining. He was watching cartoons on TV and I noticed he needed a hair cut. So did I.
I suggested we go get a shave and a haircut. He said NO to a…

I would really appreciate help decorating the float for MySaline, but I would also very much enjoy having people RIDE IN THE FLOAT WITH ME. Call me either…

Well, I didn't want 2 pull out my mud ridin' stories,BUT them 2 CRAZY sisters ( ya'll know who I'm talkin' 'bout ) has forced my hand. In my younger daze we lived 'bout a mile & a half from 145th street, there's a pipe line that we use2 mud ride on every Sunday. So we started buildin' these VW's, we would hold the torque arms all the way down & weld them up solid, cut the centers outta the bug wheels & weld them in a 16" wheel & had tractor tires on the 16" wheels, & would…

I just got back from the
Maitreya Project Relic tour. It's in Bauxite. Who knew there was a Bhuddist Temple in Bauxite? I didn't. It's gorgeous.
I got there early, way too early, and was made to feel so welcome and at ease by the people there. Talk about gracious. These people we so kind to me.
I was impressed by the heart of kindness and love as I sat and listened to their service (it was in Vietnamese) Then…

Well, when I clicked on Mr. Standridge's post yesterday, with that title I thought we were gonna talk 'bout all the old store names, mom & pop stores, and such. So I was a little disappointed when he was just lookin' for someone. I jokingly said he must be the CIA, well after doin' my research, he's a lawyer( them hairs on the back of my neck don't lie), I think we should look back to a simpler time and remember these places. I'll start it off with, Helms Gro., Otasco, and even the drive-in…

I got off work early yesterday to get a jump start on T-day deserts. Rolled in to the kitchen, got everything all set - pie tins out, cooling racks, mixer stand, double boiler - everything's ready. My son had gone shopping (bless him, I hear the store was a mad house) for me the day before.
After having baked a cheese cake and two pumpkin pies, I was ready for the unpromised surprise desert, chocolate pie with meringue top. When discussing holiday deserts, Mom had told me just to…

To all my friends who have sent me best 'wishes', chain letters,
'angel' letters or other promises of good luck if I forwarded
something,
NONE OF THAT STUFF WORKED!
Could you please just send gasoline,
cash, Vodka, chocolate or airline tickets instead?
Thank you

That was the delusional quote I was greeted with earlier tonight...only if it's a
GOOD luck button you wanna push. I could certainly stand for somebody to push my GOOD luck button. Work has been working me like my name is Jorge' and I don't have a green card. I think my love life must've been stolen and lost somewhere out in the Tull Bottoms. And I have too many people asking me for money! So, go ahead, push my GOOD luck button!…

Totally Free Watercolor classes at Library: Once a month at both Benton and Bryant Library. I like to try my hand at art, but never was all that good. I am not saying that I am really good now, but this is my fifth attempt at watercolor after taking 3 lessons at the library. You just show up, everything is furnished. I really like this medium better than any other that I have ever tried. I thought it would be the hardest. (In the preview, the picture looked stretched lengthwise. I had to…

My brother sent me this picture today asking us (he sent it to all my siblings) if we could identify where this pic was from. A flood of memories I didn't even know I knew came flooding in. Wow, a picture can sure stir long forgotten stuff. We moved from there when I was 5. Here is my reply to him:
That is Kermit Texas! I remember when they threw turkeys off the roof of the courthouse at thanksgiving.

I went with my mom and my daughter to another watercolor class with instructor Carolyn Voss.
This one was at the library in Benton, but she holds classes at the library in Bryant also.
The classes are one a month for each location.
We have done African animals and underwater life before. This month, we were doing Seascapes.
Come with us in December! I'll post the date when I find out.
Thelma's Cape Cod shore with lighthouse…

I want that understood up front. I never had them as a kid (my mom told me they would give me ring worms). My wife is a cat person. She has always had a slew of them around. Well, I am now left with the care of 2 cats and my old dog Peanut. Neither Peanut nor I was very happy about the arrangement. One of the cats has, I am sure, some kind of social disorder and I rarely see it. It generally stays hid Lord knows where. The only evidence I see of it is the occasional fluff of hair (Himalayan)…

Haven't lurked around quite enough to know exacctly what's going on around here but I suppose if it's my blog I can say whatever as long as I'm keeping the pool clean.
I was very interested to see the Midtowne Church group. I had not heard of it. (Don't panic - I don't get out much) I was telling some friends at work about it and about this website. Everybody here seems nice so I told them I thought i might go. At least one of them says she wants to go (I told her about the donuts!)…

Congratulations to Cliff Lee for being named the 2008 American League Cy Young Award winner. A prestigious honor for one of Benton's favorite sons.
It is a remarkable and stark comparison between his 2007 season and his dominance in 2008.
God bless Cliff Lee, his wife, kids, friends and fans.
