Letter Re: Benton HS Dedication

Tuesday evening (9/13) at 6 pm is the public dedication/open house for the remodeled Benton High School (everyone invited). Former board member Sam Stueart penned the letter below and submitted it to the Courier for publication. The Courier declined to print it stating “that the timing makes it too political” and “it waves the Prothro flag at the wrong time”. (Of course it is just coincidence, nothing political, about the open house being on the eve of early voting for two incumbent board… Continue

HELP FOUND LITTLE KITTENS...

Found 4 little kittens behind where I work.  I'm being told a mama cat got run over last week so I believe they are hers.  I've already ask my hubby and I cannot take them home.  Only 2 of them have their eyes open.  I will check back frequently for anyone's answers.

Movie Review: Source Code

Jake Gyllenhall has little time to find a bomber who plans to decimate Chicago with a nuclear device.  The catch?  He must find out who the bomber is by taking over the body of a man who is already deceased due to an earlier bomb.

Confusing? Watch the movie.  Not bad.

Not for kids due to some gruesome images.

Movie Review: Unknown

Spy adventure.

Liam Neeson is an incredibly gifted actor.  His performance in "Taken" was amazing.  This is a similar role and film, so if you liked "Taken", you'll like Unknown.

PG13 - warranted because kids would probably be asking, "Why, why, why?" about every other minute of the film.  Fairly fast moving.

Thought for the day....

Before you throw around the word "hypocrite" or hear it said about someone, Romans 3:23 and Philippians 2:12-16 share a little about the fact that God is helping all of us with walking out and living what He has done for each of us remember where you are with God and know that others are at different places. It's about Him getting and Us giving the Glory in our lives. Amen!!

Movie Review: Limitless

Limitless glorifies drug use.  (Yes, it does.)  The concept of the film is the main character, Edward Morra, played by Bradley Cooper (of the two Hangover movies which I've never watched, won't ever watch and which probably should have told me something about this film) has gotten addicted to NZT, a drug that enables the user to use 100% of their brain capacity, making them "Limitless" hence the title.

The film's drug use concept notwithstanding, the general bulk of…

Cleaning Services

My name is Heather Woodall and I am looking for a few homes or offices to clean during the week and/or weekends during the hours of 8a to 2p. I am a resident here in Saline County and have been for many years. I am honest, trustworthy, and a hard worker. I guess I can consider myself a "neat freak", I am married and have 2 children in the home so I guess I have to be. I also currently do after school care during the week for two other…

Economy Will Double Dip and Gold Will Still Glitter.

After a 4.5% drop in the value of the Dow Jones Industrial Index Friday September 2, 2011, Tuesday may be at least as bad. I anticipate a 5% drop early rallying back to a drop of around 3.7%. Dow Jones Futures are down 2.63% as of 6:30 PM Monday. One way of profiting on a declining stock market is to buy the ETF (Electronically Traded Fund) DOG. The DOG shorts the Dow Index meaning it goes up as the DOW goes down.

I have anticipated and predicted a…

Feds raid guitar factory - can anyone here justify this

http://www.gibson.com/en-us/Lifestyle/News/gibson-0825-2011/

Gibson guitars has a plant in Tennesee that was raided on August 26th. Apparently they were interpreting a law in India that says any wood used from India has to be finished by Indian workers. Supposedly India did not request this raid.

In this day, in this economy, why would the Federal Government raid a guitar plant with…
