The Rest of the Story... 59% Increase - DWI/DUI Arrests

No one can dispute the fact The Courier served up an eyepopping headline in their Sunday edition. It is logical to coincide the 59% increase in DWI/DUI arrests with the proliferation of ABC's permitting of private clubs in Benton.

However, that conclusion and feature article failed to address some of the underlying facts of this issue - specifically increased funding for enforcement.

I want to share some of the information that I received today regarding this… Continue

A Season of Service: September 19, 2009

Our church, CenterPoint Church along with two of our sister churches, Hiland Heights Baptist Church and First Baptist Church of Benton joined together this day and cleaned homes and yards, served food, put on a clothing and food donation barn where the needy were able to "shop" for needed clothing and food - and there was entertainment: clowns, face painting, a "bouncy" hut...on and on...

It was amazing to see the precious people that society has seemed to have forgotten get loved… Continue

Blame game and the awesomeness of God

I spend time with the Word every morning. My reading today took me to the book of Job. Job had lost everything as we see in Chapter 1:13-22:

One day when Job's sons and daughters were feasting and drinking wine at the oldest brother's house, a messenger came to Job and said, "The oxen were plowing and the donkeys were grazing nearby, and the Sabeans attacked and carried them off. They put the servants to the sword, and I am the only one who has escaped to tell you!" While he was still… Continue

Incredible true story starring Jamie Foxx and Robert Downey Jr.

1. Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you're wrong.

2. That's enough, Nickelback.

3. I totally take back all those times I didn't want to nap when I was younger.

Several Vehicles Broken Into Last Night in Benton

We live right off Alcoa in the Emerald Valley neighborhood right down the road from Target and several vehicles in the neighborhood had their windows broken out and vehicles vandalized. My husband had his vehicle broken into and they stole several items out of it. It looks like they used a crowbar or tool to pry the window from the rubber seal which then shattered the window. Several cars on our street and the next street were damaged.

Eight years ago today....

Remembering 9/11/01: I was working at Charter Cable. I arrived at work and everyone was huddled around the office TV. When I saw what was happening in our country, it put me in a temporary state of shock. I remember the flood of emotions, but mostly, I remember the RAGE I felt at that moment in time.

Father God, be with the families of 9/11 today.

When I had baby #1, I was 19 and scared to death - luckily I had a supportive family. Two years later came baby #2, still lucky.

I settled in to the routine of being a moma. Am I perfect? Oh, heck no!! I'd never give up those little brats for anything (grin). They are my world, whether they know it or not. I think they probably think of me as more of a nag than anything but they don't question my love and… Continue
