Hey guys. With the sports world on an elongated break, save for baseball, what are some ideas to write about to hold us over until football season starts up. I was thinking of recapping some classic Razorback football games I have on DVD or hopefully the local station will do the Razorback Classics like they did last summer. Anyway, comment below and give me some ideas if you want!
The Arkansas Razorback baseball team’s magical run in the NCAA Tournament came to an end on Friday night at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha. The Hogs started the game on fire offensively, with Tim Carver singling to deep short on the first pitch of the game. After Jacob Mahan sacrifice bunted Carver to second, Matt Reynolds got his first hit of the College World Series and drove Carver in to stake Hog starting pitcher DJ Baxendale to an early 1-0 lead. Baxendale got into a jam in the bottom half…Continue

The Arkansas Razorbacks struggled offensively against South Carolina, and lost 2-0 to force a deciding game for a berth in the College World Series Championship Series. Randall Fant was the starting pitcher for the Hogs and worked out of a 2 on, 2 out jam with a fly ball to right field. Carolina struck for their only tallies of the game after Fant gave up back-to-back doubles for the first run. Then a sacrifice groundout followed by a single scored the other run for the Gamecocks. Fant was…Continue

FROM THE ROOSTER TRAIL…
Recently, a large critter, as in black bear, has made his presence known in our neighborhood. The bear, we’ll call him Bear, seems to have learned the bureaucracy of our government operations. In this instance, the Game & Fish Dept. Most folks who know me, know that we live past the 114 Exit on I-30, on the service road that runs along the interstate. You know, the…Continue

The Miami Heat battled back from a 17-point first quarter defecit and held off the Oklahoma City Thunder to win Game 4 of the NBA Finals on Tuesday night to take a commanding 3 games to 1 lead in the best of seven series. The Thunder were led by Russell Westbrook’s 43 points, and Kevin Durant pitched in with 28. But a couple of late mistakes by Westbrook ultimately led to OK's demise. With about 17 seconds to go and Miami up 101-98, a tie ball was called resulting in a jump ball… Continue

The Arkansas Razorback baseball team made history on Monday night at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha. All they did was beat the 2-time defending national champion South Carolina Gamecocks 2-1 in a winners’ bracket game of the College World Series. With the win, the Diamond Hogs stopped the Gamecocks’ incredible 22-game winning streak in NCAA Tournament play.
The Hogs rode the arms of Ryne Stanek and Barrett Astin to shut down the Carolina bats. Stanek pitched 6 stellar innings,…Continue

LeBron James scored 29 points, Dwayne Wade added 25, and the Miami Heat held off another Oklahoma City Thunder rally, winning 91-85 in Game 3 of the best-of-seven NBA Finals. The Finals returned to South Beach for the first time since Game 6 of the 2011 Finals, a game that saw the Dallas Mavericks win the championship on the Heat’s home floor. James and Wade both made sure the visitors didn’t win on their floor this time. Miami led by a point at halftime, but the Thunder stormed out of the…Continue

The Diamond Hogs beat the Kent State Golden Flashes 8-1 to advance to a winner’s bracket game against the 2-time defending national champion and SEC rival South Carolina Gamecocks on Monday night at 8. The Arkansas Razorback baseball team continues their quest for a national championship on Saturday at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha, Nebraska. The Diamond Hogs are 5 victories away from winning the first baseball title in school history.
The closest the program has come to winning it all on the diamond was back in 1979. That team ended up losing to perennial power Cal State Fullerton by the score of 2-1. This trip marks the program's 7th trip to the…Continue

The Miami Heat held off a furious rally by the Oklahoma City Thunder on Thursday night to even the NBA Finals up at a game apiece, winning 100-96. The Heat’s Big Three had their best collective game in their 8 total Finals games. LeBron James scored 32 points, Dwayne Wade had 24, and Chris Bosh had 16 points and 15 rebounds. OKC, down by as many as 16 early on, kept the game at a 10 point deficit for most of the second half.
The turning point seemed to be when Thunder star Kevin…Continue
Matt Cain of the San Francisco Giants pitched the 22nd perfect game in Major League history last night. It was the third no hitter this month alone, following Johan Santana of the Mets back on June 1 and the combined no hit effort of 6 Seattle Mariner pitchers on June 8.
In an era of ridiculous home run totals and decent batting averages, pitchers are starting to take over the game. Cain tied a record set by Sandy Koufax for the most number of strikeouts in a perfect game with…Continue

The Arkansas Razorback football team unveiled their new uniforms on Wednesday morning. Personally I like them a lot better than I did in the pictures that had leaked in the weeks prior. The new uniforms are made by Nike, and feature number font that is supposed to resemble a razor’s edge.
The home red jerseys feature the word “Razorbacks” in white lettering across the front for the first time. The numbers are white fading down to what Nike calls ‘anthracite’, which is basically a…Continue
