Elementary School PTO Treasurer Charged with Theft of $9,000 from Fund

On Monday, August 3rd, 2015, officers with the Benton Police Department took a report of a theft from the Angie Grant Elementary Parent Teacher Organization (PTO).  Officers were informed that during an audit of the PTO account it was found that numerous unapproved charges had been made.

Fatal Wreck on Interstate 40 Takes Benton Woman, Lonoke Man

Friday night, August 28th, two vehicles on Interstate 40 in Lonoke County collided, killing occupants Christina Brewer of Benton, age 27, and Anthony Ray of Lonoke, age 44. According to the Arkansas State Police, at about 8:22 p.m., Ray's 1991 Ford Truck was headed the wrong way on the westbound ramp at exit 173 and struck Brewer's 2012 Chevy Camaro head-on. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
