The "Roger Special" was a surprise at this locally-owned restaurant in Benton

Located in what was once Denny's on Highway 5 and the I30 service road in Benton, the Icehouse Grill is well worth an effort to satisfy your culinary curiosity. We had breakfast. I had a breakfast platter known in my family as the "Roger Special." Contents: 2 eggs scrambled, country sausage, hashbrowns, whole wheat toast, and gravy on the side. Thelma had her own special which was a sandwich made of bacon, a hard fried egg, and cheese on Texas toast. She had a helpin' of sliced pickles on the…See More

Who Doesn't Like a Good George Burns Story

My daughter, you may know her as Shelli of MySaline, gave me a book she rescued from The Blue Suede Shoes Antique Mall. The title is "The Most of George Burns". It is too good not to share a little. I decided a blog on MySaline.com might be a good way to do it. Having said that, here are a couple of teasers to get us started. They are numbered in reverse order so that subsequent entries will be on top:Story #2George Burns and Jack Benny were great friends. That never stopped George from pulling…See More
