I have lived in Benton most of my life since I was 16. I have children and grand children here. I attend the Presbyterian Church here. I am an animal lover from birth. I work in Little Rock for the State.
City in Saline County of particular interest & why (ex: _____ because I live/work/have family/friends there.)
I love Benton, it is small and I feel it is my home.

Any information I feel is of interest to others
Any relevant links you'd like to share? Keep it clean!
I really would love to see more people keep our City clean. And I would also like to see the city officials enforce more residential regulations. I do not like seeing a junk yard in a residential area.
How did you get to MySaline.com?
I just happened on it while searching for some Saline County information.

FINDING REAL LOVE

A really good statement that I heard was, "You can give without loving, but you can not love without giving." Everyone needs to be loved and many are hungry to find it. So hungry that many unaceptable actions are overlooked by the one in need, which leaves them open to those who prey on people like them.

There is abuse of all kinds and the one that really is becoming an epidemic is teens that are abused by their boyfriends and I think girlfriends as well.

I found this Love List and have saved… Continue

Parent Alert

I was on my way home yesterday, a little later than usual on 430 heading towards I-30 to Benton, when I noted two motorcycles with young drivers in the midst. They looked to be between 13 and 15 years of age. At first my worry was that these children might get hurt in this rush home traffic, but that soon changed to a more terrifying thought.

One bike had a young boy with a smaller rider. The other was just a young boy with tatoos on his left arm. Well that is the arm I saw. About 1/4 or 1/2 mi… Continue

LIFE GIFTS

There were several things I intended to put into this blog, but I just had a birthday. Which may or may not have anything to do with whether I can remember all I intended to say or not. I may have to come back to this one periodically.

I drive to Little Rock every morning and there are a few things I noted that folks need to remember. When it is dark, turn on your lights; when it is raining turn on your lights; when you intend to jump in front of me, turn on a blinker. My biggest pet peeve with… Continue

ANIMAL CONTROL AND THE POOR

I attended a meeting at City Hall the other night. Present were representatives of the Human Society, Animal Control and interested citizens. The first thing that I need to say is that I support the Human Society and their efforts and I love Ann Sanders for all her dedication and the thankless hours she has put into it. Do I hear a “but” coming on? Yes you do.

There were two statements that were made at that meeting that tore at my heart.
1. If they can’t afford that, then they don’t need a dog… Continue

STREET PEOPLE

We've all seen them, people who live on the street. Well, I say we have seen them. Actually we have all tried to avoid them at any cost. They look dirty and some beg for money or food. All look as though they could use a good bath, and truth be know, they probably smell like it as well.

I have seen news broadcast and articles in the paper about them and I have seen them ....really seen them.

Have you ever thought about the fact that someone somewhere may care for that person, that they may not… Continue

You mentioned that you are looking for a deal on internet service. There is an article on page 22 of the February 2010 Consumer Reports that tells how to save money on TV, phone, and internet service. The magazine is probably available at the library.

It depends upon your location. Some folks don't have high speed internet and are still on dial-up. Jason, here are some previous posts that might be useful: http://www.mysaline.com/forum/topics/should-i-switch-to-att-uverse?commentId=873760%3AComm
