Interesting. Child protective services may have been in order, but I would never say a parent "deserves" to lose a child in such a horrific way.

As quick as we are to want to lash out at the parents as stupid a mistake as this was let's be as quick to sympathize the terror they must feel. There's no doubt in my mind they are overwhelmed with guilt.
