Michael Robert “Mike” Woods, age 51, of the Sardis community in Saline County, died about 2:00 a.m. that night. Woods died as a result of falling out of a “side-by-side rollover accident” according to Dallas County Sheriff Mike Knoedl. Jeremiah Oltmans, age 51, of Benton, admitted to being the driver.
When Sgt. Jordan Ables arrived on the scene, he found the vehicle lying on its passenger side with the engine still running. Michael Woods, a front-seat passenger, was pinned beneath the roll cage. Medics with Valor Ambulance, who arrived earlier at 1:31 a.m., were performing CPR, but noted the victim’s eyes were fixed and dilated.
According to Sheriff Knoedl in a statement on November 26th, “Some close friends and family came down to deer hunt. Unfortunately, it will be a memory that will affect these families for the rest of their lives.”

Dallas County Arkansas Jail Roster shows Jeremiah Oltmans was booked on December 17, 2025 for DWI and Negligent Homicide.
Witnesses told deputies that Oltmans lost control while turning, causing the vehicle to roll and land on Woods’ chest. Passengers were able to partially lift the vehicle and place an ice chest beneath it to relieve pressure. Owen Woods, the victim’s 18-year-old son, ran several miles to their camp to call 911.
Sgt. Ables reported that Oltmans displayed signs of alcohol impairment, including bloodshot eyes and slurred speech. He failed multiple field sobriety tests, and a preliminary breath test showed a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of .13. A later test conducted at the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office registered a BAC of .108. Oltmans was arrested then, and later released from jail.
The case was forwarded to the prosecutor for review of possible charges. After several weeks of investigation, Oltmans turned himself in to the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office on December 17, 2025, and was charged with Negligent Homicide and Driving While Intoxicated (DWI). Oltmans is known in Saline County as a real estate agent and is very active in the community.
Friends and family knew Woods as “Mighty Mike,” according to his obituary from Dial and Dudley Funeral Home in Bryant, Arkansas. It described him as “a profoundly selfless man,” and “the unwavering rock of his family.”
