I want that understood up front. I never had them as a kid (my mom told me they would give me ring worms). My wife is a cat person. She has always had a slew of them around. Well, I am now left with the care of 2 cats and my old dog Peanut. Neither Peanut nor I was very happy about the arrangement. I am blessed with a job that lets me travel the US and consequently I get to go to the "good" places to eat. In my travels, I used to go see my accounts, go to a Chili's or Applebees and then to a hotel room. I was just thinking, when oil was at $55 a barrel, gas prices were about $1.50 a gallon. Now that gas has reached $100 a barrel, gas has gone up to $4.00 a gallon. My algebra skills are kinda rusty, but I think that old formula to solve for X would be like this:

Old gas price = New gas price
Old barrel price New barrel price


or


$1.50 = X
$55 $100



Wouldn't X = I don't know.... less than $3.00?
