When I moved to Saline County in 1979, I was so excited to be away from Little Rock and the crime that was taking hold of the Southwest part of that city. I felt so safe here, and I still do, but the times, they are a changing! I know there has been a rash of home invasions in Benton, but was wondering if anyone knew of any problems in the Salem area?

Would someone please help me get rid of mosquitos? My wonderful husband built me a beautiful deck to enjoy in the backyard, but I can't use it. The mosquitos are terrible! We don't have any standing water or tall grass around. I hate having to wear sticky bug spray every time I go outside. If anyone knows of any tricks to rid my yard of these pest, I would so appreciate hearing from you.

At 5:06am on April 16, 2012, Shelli Russell said…: Thanks for writing! That is interesting to think about how Salem has grown. We lived in Salem a few years - off Helmich and then off Pebble Lake. I couldn't believe it was Bryant Schools. It looks like the Springhill and Hilldale areas are beginning to grow and commercialize in a similar manner to Salem. Won't be long until people are moving farther out to escape the city.
