After all the meetings and the consortium of trucks I have seen frequently gathered around the telecommunications equipment scattered about the city, you would think that AT&T would have U-verse rolled out throughout our lovely city by now. What I would like to know is: what on earth is taking so long? I have been about as patient as I think a person can be considering the grandiose promises that have been made to me in the past. I find it reprehensible that I live in the city limits and that I still have to pay for a dedicated business line to my home which costs $500 a month in order to get a reasonable amount of bandwidth into my home. Now I understand why so many people refer to the AT&T logo as the "death star" (you would have to be a star wars fan to understand). Come on AT&T, this is a public plea, put your money where your mouth is and get us plugged into some new technology.

Stepping off soapbox now...

I know of two or three people who have gotten UVerse. I still do not qualify and I'm much farther inside the city limits than you and Stephanie. I have the luxury of being in Horizon Broadband's range, whereas you guys likely don't. My parents in Bryant got it recently, but then they already had access to dsl. If I have a chief complaint about living in Benton, this is the one.

Falcon and then Charter have hosed us for high speed from cable. Only a scant few qualify for Charter's fiber optic now that they are offering it (a mere 9 years after they first told us they would be rolling it out "soon").

Of those I know of who are in the service area for AT&T, and have ordered it, it took them a while to get it and then a couple of them had difficulty with the installation when they did get it.

Benton: if you want to draw people to this city, consider free or lowcost wimax. That's the utility business to be in (COUGHconwaycorpCOUGHCOUGH)

We have dsl but it is pretty slow. Our neighbors across the street have U-verse (and love it by the way). Talk about frustration. I've heard Charter really does not plan on ever upgrading it's hardware to provide Hi-def cable or internet access. Doesn't the city decide who our cable provider is? If so, I would like for them to look into switching to Comcast.

I have a brother who lives in Nevada, MO and about a year ago the city did the free or lowcost wimax for anyone living within the city limits. They love it. I can't remember if they get it free or not but I know they are very happy with it. My 75 year old mother even got a laptop and is now sending and receiving email.

The absolute death for Saline County Businesses is the lack of high speed internet! We have struggled with this for the past ten years and currently run lousy DSL AND cable thru a dual LAN to even be able to operate our business. After 5 pm, it crawls as we have to share bandwidth with the neighborhood.

My DSL is very slow, but I can't complain because it took me 4 years to get off of dial up. :(

I would love true high speed but I worry about ATT implementing a "fair use" policy before or after I get it.
