Unsolicited sales calls for "Warranty Services"

They've been callin' my Personal CELL PHONE at WORK. Now, bein' one who LOVES to give Telemarketers a hard time, I felt it my duty to tell the representative how unappreciative I was of them callin' me on my cell phone, at work. When I saw the story on THV, I emailed the phone numbers to the AG. Then yesterday they called again. This time when I got the sales rep, I started by tellin' her that it was illegal to start a sales call with a recording. She quickly decided to put my number on there "Do not call List". Maybe, just maybe that was the last time I'll get one of those calls.

Is it from 773-249-5005? Cuz that's who's been calling our Magic Jack about a car warranty, and somebody (dunno number) is calling my co-worker's phone at work too.

I'm telling the AG - thanks for the tip.

These sorry no good for nothing kept calling me at work on my cell.

The folks @ Verizon Wireless took care of a couple of these scams. See the article below

Just wanted to add something, This so called warranty service is even calling on my childrens cell phones. They are under 15. The AG office knows about it. How are they getting our cell phone numbers? Here is the number to warranty services, please tell them to leave us Arkansans alone. 1-603-685-0200!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I too was getting these calls and gave them a piece of my mind as it was on my cell phone during work hours. Last Saturday I got another call to inform me that I had been put on their "do not call list" and so far, fingers crossed, I haven't had any since Saturday.

I still get the phone calls even after 'do not call list' to my cell. They said that there was some one doing the same thing. I keep telling them I have a 2008 car.

Folks:

Suggest the following to do regards undesired phone calls.

#1: DO sign aboard the registration found on www.donotcall.gov. But, that is NOT the "whole ball of wax."

The COMPANION step is to register on the State of ARKANSAS "Do Not Call" listing. This makes inTRAstate calls by the "Agents Of Irritation" as illegal as those made from other states. Btaim, such nasty characters DO get inventive and SOME have resorted to originating calls from Canada, a/o "herd" you to continue the dialogue via contacting an area code assigned to another COUNTRY. The Dominican Republic, for example. Cost you about $2400.00 per minute.

In BOTH cases, you MUST RE-REGISTER about every five years.

Tools to use:

http://www.prodial.com/codes1.html is a site to bookmark regards AREA CODES.

http://www.countrycallingcodes.com/countrylist.php? is a child site for COUNTRY CALLING CODES; the infamous D.R. code of #809.

DO make the effort to trace the number via www.whitepages.com; a/o www.switchboard.com. But, DO be careful about being suckered into paying for a search regards this type of number.

Acquire a phone that displays incoming phone numbers. DO set your parameters to demand caller revelation or be disconnected.

DO use the Great Google to input a phone number and see if it has made the "Honour Roll" of nefarious callers. 407-000-9876 has made the Google roster of such numbers

DO access www.donotcall.gov, and enter a complaint. Just fill out the form.

BE knowledgeable of the LEGAL permissions that apply to politicians, and charities. Also, one's BANK, or a legal lender seeking payment anticipation.

Finally, BE PREPARED to complain TO: Your state AG, and your Congressional Rep. and federal Senators; and the FCC.

If all these fail, then seek a change in your phone number. That should be the last option to use. Why? A TON of contacts to announce the change. Eventually, the whole process starts a new.

However, one device that is irksome is the Auto Dialer. Best I have done is to run a trace, and then ignore it, but DO complain to the Do Not Call site.

Cara, Have you been getting the other constant unsolicited call for you to hire them to keep your credit cards from increasing their rates next week? That one comes one week and then the next week I get the warranty services call. I think it is the same people trying to get info for an Identity scam. I am on all do not call lists and do not give out my cell phone number or home phone number. I have played with them, but they won't stay on the line long. I will start reporting to AG. Thanks, Sara

I was getting many calls, some on Sunday and many after 9 pm. I also was getting crammers putting charges on my phone bill. I called A T & T and let them know. They said I needed to be on the Do not Call list. I told them I was on it for a long time. Then I went to the site and it let me check to see if I was on it....and I was.

Strangly, all calls have now stopped. There is a do not call list for cell phones as well.
