To All MySaline Members: Gather 'Round, Children
It has come to my attention in a number of ways that the MySaline member agreement is either being violated or in some cases, isn't stringent enough. So here's what's about to happen. I'm going to have to talk to all members as if they are children, and that really chaps my hide because there are heaps of members who take care to be polite, positive and helpful - and if you hooligans run them off...!! [deep breath]
If you want the short version, just read the bold words. I don't like to read long stuff either.
Gossip is a story that you really don't know if it's true and you tell people the story doesn't concern. It hurts the people in the story, the people hearing the story and the teller of the story. Don't do it.
Insults are names we call people when we don't understand them or have nothing else to say. Insults are almost never "just for fun" and don't belong in routine conversation. Don't do it.
Internet Trolling [see full Wikipedia definition] While the word troll and its associated verb trolling are associated with Internet discourse, media attention in recent years has made such labels subjective, with trolling describing intentionally provocative actions outside of an online context. Don't do it.
Complaints are welcome, though I have a day job and may take a "minute" to get to yours. Email me at shellirussell@gmail.com. Call or text me only if it's urgent. 501.303.4010.
When you see something questionable on MySaline, select it, copy it, open a new tab, paste it into an email to shellirussell@gmail.com. Include a link to the page with the questionable content and tell me what page# of the discussion it is. This helps infinitely in my path of recourse. It might take forever for me to figure out what you're talking about if you just email me saying "Whatshisname is being rude on the election topic." I can't search through piles of blogs and discussions or flip through miles of comments on them. Help me out a little here.
Here's what I do after a complaint about a member: I look at the pasted text and link you provided me. (See how I reiterated that?) I review at the member's profile, whether they are using their real name, recent content and history of content. I edit or delete content that violates member agreement. I suspend or ban a member who has violated the agreement. Suspension is until I get around to bringing that member back. (Remember, I have other things going on in my life.) That member harassing me with emails, Facebookery, Twitterness, phone calls, texts, etc. does not help their case, and may get a suspended member banned. Call it censorship if you like. I call it decency. Besides, it's my site that I'm providing to the public for free. Yeah, I put that in bold.
I'm adding the link to this discussion to the member agreement.

Post what you hear seems to be in violation since that's gossip.

Well said, Shelli. It is a shame that you would have to make such a speech to "adults", but then I do guess that the word "adult" is very subjective and does not necessarily apply when one turns 18. Very well done!!!! :)

Good for you, Shelli! I hope people realize the service you're providing us. The check is in the mail! I'm finally getting back on my feet financially, so can spare a little. Keep up the good work. I have a demanding day job, and don't have much time to visit here often, but always enjoy when I do.
