The State Nut
The Arkansas Legislature implemented a most wonderous thing: the Arkansas State Nut. Yep, our Pals at the Leg named the "Pecan" as the Arkansas State Nut. Now, while I could have nominated many a person I know for that misnomer, I am not just merely upset but royally upset that I have to go through all of my recipe cards and change the name of my pies to "The Arkansas State Pie."
However, as a participatory member of this great state and all of the wonderous things we do here, I suggest that we now need an Arkansas State Nut Beauty Queen Pagent. I vote for Benton to hold the pagent (instead of Hot Springs - the host city to the Miss Arkansas Pagent.) Think of all of the tourism dollars we could bring in. We could host it at the Royal Theatre.
We could even plant The Arkansas State Nut Trees on the Courthouse Lawn and all around the county. Yeah . . . We'll become known as the Arkansas State Nut Capitol of the world. We could even have a State Nut Roast Off right here in Benton.

You know, Utter Nut, a Nut Cracker is a good idea for the Sceptre. And, yes, I want nut wannabes walking alongside my float. I'm designing the costumes now for the Queen and her Court. Since, you are in the Court as the Utter Nut, you might want to call me to find out what you will be wearing. It will be anutter suprise to one and all. Most delightful, I must say!

Think neon pink duct tape gowns, clevage, buttage, long brown wigs, tiaras, red cowgirl boots, coursages made of nuts and the Arkansas State Bird - the Mockingbird, bouquets of apple blossoms and pine branches, and sashes with our Titles: Queen Nut and Lesser Nuts and Utter Nut.
