I'm still interested in knowing anything about undergroung springs in the Mills Park Shobe Road area, or anywhere else in Bryant for that matter.

Hey Terri
I was told that the springs that are underground in Bryant are a combination of Fouche Creek, Hurricane Creek and Saline River hooking up, and going spastic all under Bryant and out towards the Indian Mounds. I am still trying to find anything about Indian Springs. Not much luck, but still persisting onward......
Let me know what you find out please.

Possible only the locals know about this one. I just can't find any locals to anty-up any information.......

Well at just under a year here, I hardly qualify as a local (though I'm hoping to one day become one-- perhaps my daughter?), but I can tell you I didn't know until I watched it recently that practically all of "Sling Blade" was filmed on location here in Benton, AR. It can be kinda fun trying to spot landmarks here and there.

Umm, pass the bisquits and mustard as Carl would have said.......That's a good movie!

Y'all can go to Arkansite.com to post Arkansas stuff outside of Saline, and it wn't hurt my feelers at all.

That's not an accurate description. See the image of the hydrologic cycle to see how it works.
The Indian Springs trailer park sits on high ground. Drainage to the west goes to one small creek, and drainage to the east goes to another small creek. Both small creeks flow into Crooked Creek, which eventually flows into Fourche Creek, and then into the Arkansas River. (I am using a 1:100,000 scale USGS topographic map.)

Thank Goodness. I was worried about that being incorrect. You know how hear say goes......

I wonder is all of this spring activity has any relation to the New Madrid fault, or the Hot Springs springs.

Dear Dee, This is in response to your wondering "I wonder is all of this spring activity has any relation to the New Madrid fault, or the Hot Springs springs." I am afraid that in looking for a pretty picture to illustrate the hydrogeologic cycle, I did not find one that showed how springs are formed. This picture isn't so pretty, but it does show how springs are commonly formed, including most of the ones encountered in Saline County. They are typically formed and discharged in a relatively local area. The groundwater generally flows in the same direction as the slope of the land surface.
The New Madrid fault would not influence our springs since there are a number of major rivers (White River, Arkansas River, etc.) in between and also the subsurface geology differs. Hot Springs is much closer, but there are still many hills, creeks, and rivers in between so that there should be no influence on creeks in Bryant.

Yup. I learned all aboout hydrologic cycles in grade school. However, that's a long time ago and lots of things have changed in researching geology. Lately I've learned that the little 'bumps' in the land around here, that haven't been plowed under or built over, is earth splash from astrological hits in Canada and north west America, during the last ice age. Whoda thunk! Same for the Carolina Bays. My dad was totally a believer in plate tectonics when he was a young man, to the general hilarity of his peers. Things change in knowledge of the earth. Maybe a link had been established and nobody bothered to alert me, one of the earth's biggest fans...
