This all depends on the what the majority of registered voters think. The speaking out or keeping silent will let Lt. Gov. Halter know whether this will fly. And I say Halter because this was his deal anyway. As far as the $100,000 pension from SC, that should not matter to the people of Arkansas. That's the taxpayer's of SC's dime and none of my business.

I believe that the main point is missed, here. IF we are talking about the "MEGA Lottery/POWER BALL Lottery," then we have to consider it being a MULTI STATE matter.

The main question is exactly HOW PROFITABLE is this lottery? Is it the same level of profit for all states involved? How many states?

At face value, the listing of choices is more in tune with the current public viewpoint regards executive compensation and how it relates to all the economic upheaval. People are STILL stupid enough to vote for school budget INCREASES when they have NO JOB!!! The result is those that CAN, VOTE WITH THEIR FEET

I feel that until my questions and OTHER info requests are replied to, then present compensation is NOT to be maintained. The PROOF has to be shown, FIRST.

Incidentally, a high compensation package does NOT translate into the best possible candidate for the job. This have been proven by the TEACHERS' UNIONS and their incessant demands that THEIR province be exempt from suffering along with the rest of the country from the economic downturn.

Just from the entry posting, this sounds like cronyism that leads to an oligarchy.

My choice is to NOT vote for an increase, BUT, to demand PROOF of managerial expertise FIRST, then we'll see about a better compensation package.

Joining MEGA/Powerball means larger jackpots. As far as compensation? That's up to the voters. I'm with you on the teachers point. However, we really don't have that issue with Saline schools. Meaning the quality education. Take it from someone like me who went K-8 in the Little Rock SD and then 9-12 at Bryant. Night and freaking day. And when it comes to private sector CEO compensation I could care less if the CEO of any company is making high in to the 7 figure mark. That's up to the stock holder's to decide what is more than far compensation, not the government.

It makes a lot of sense to get the director from South Carolina, even though his salary is high. With his experience, he should be able to get the lottery up and operating much more quickly than the other candidates. The proposed two vice presidents might be somewhat overcompensated, but genrally a high salary is needed as an inducement to get someone to relocate. This is particularly true in the case of someone moving from South Carolina, which is a low tax burden state, to Arkansas, which has a much higher tax burden. Also, we don't have much ocean frontage.

Sounds like The Lottery Chief already hit the lottery before it even started...
There are many families in Arkansas that don't make $32,000 and could never even imagine 10 times that... but with school superintendents and other public "SERVANTS" making $200,000+ I guess it doesn't matter much. I noticed a lot of college students are now electing to nmajor in Government...mostly supporting roles, it seems that nowadays some people know where the money is at.

I really guess I missed it...I thought Govt. was supposed to be where you went to SERVE for a while and then go back to your private life and live with the laws you created.

Dear sweet, naive Buddy Hawk,
I am hesitant to disillusion a person who so sincerely believes in such a high-minded concept of public service.  It is true that  there are many political officials and government employees who are honest and work long hard hours to ensure that taxpayers receive value for their tax payments.  But as with any business that has employees, not all employees are altruistic and self-sacrificing.  That applies to elected officials as well.

People don't stop being human when they sit behind a government desk.  There are good and bad elected officials, good and bad public employees, just like there are good and bad church leaders, or any other job you can name.

Regarding the range of salaries: there is an extraordinary range of human ability and skills.

There are situations where ten so-called average workers combined could not develop the concepts or ideas that one very top notch person could.

How many people does it take to equal a Bill Gates or a Warren Buffett?
