O.K. I started this discussion knowing there would be the aginners and the forers. I have given this consideable though and I have come to the conclusion that there are no free lunches. I guess this could be considered an Idiom which I thought was the first cousin to an idiot only to be proved wrong. Now to my conclusion. I feel there should be a membership fee for the right to free speech that we all exercise on this board .I futher feel that it is not fair for Shelli to bear the burden of this site alone. I say a ten dollar fee is approciate but this is not left up to me it is left up to Shelli and you. I will pay whatever is over the ten dollars, but definitely the ten dollars but that's just my thoughts.

You just witnessed Shelli's mysaline.com getting facetime on Little Rock news, and then want to shut the site down to the majority of people by forcing them to pay?

as much as i agree that it isn't "fair" that Shelli is taking up the burden of the cost for running a website used by others to push their agendas (whether political, public, business, etc), it also isn't "website savvy" to go that route. currently the website reaches anyone who wants to look and have a say. shutting it down to a few "insiders" would be rather dumb considering the website's purpose.

Shelli's got a good business model. People can also arrange for Shelli to get paid by clicking on the Google ads. They are usually in the right hand margin. For me, it was a good way to learn about some local businesses and services that were advertising at the time. Now it looks like a politician is advertising. It doesn't hurt to learn about our Pol's, whether or not you agree with them.

Munky has a point about the Google ads. It's the easiest way to support the site. It doesn't make a lot per click, but if more people did it, that $100 check from Google might come more than once a year.

If you prefer to remain anonymous, you could mail a Walmart gift card to the PO Box. They're good for groceries and I can convert my personal grocery money for other needs.

About donating actual money, while it's true that many people would be turned off by a mandatory fee, it is not at all discouraged to donate a very small amount each month. $2 for example. It's an amount that most folks wouldn't miss, and it would help me to pay the bills on this bullet train.

I am also considering providing premium memberships, but I won't give any more details at this time. Send me a personal email if you're interested in that idea and particularly if you have an idea of what you and others would like to see as part of the membership.

Thanks again, everyone, for your consideration. It does help to know people are appreciative of my work.

What about a “My Saline – Garage Sale” I have plenty of junk stuff I could drop off at Shelli’s house in the middle of the night for her to sell at a garage sale.

You thought you were being funny, but... Drop it at Meg's Auction House and she'll auction it off. She keeps 25% but you won't have to sort, price, sell or even show up.

that's a way to look at it

Hey, Don, we are buying the house next door to you. If you could help us move, it would really help. We have a hard time getting the whole family in this small car.

Aww... I've never seen all of you together. What a great action shot for the family album!
