I think you're right....I don't think it was the answer she was wanting to hear....or see...or both....

Yeah I don't think that was the that the Mayor was hoping for
Permalink Reply by Duck Bill on May 9, 2011 at 11:21pm I come home late and see the AG made a decision. After reading it, sounds like Jill Dabbs should be accountable for her actions. Stealing money from the city is a crime.

I concur...as some of us thought...when you take office it is implied that you know what you are supposed to be doing...if you don't, then make sure you are asking and getting the correct answers, just don't say, "I'll deal with the council" and think that someone isn't going to make sure you understand what you're doing....oh yeah, I'm not usually one that says "I told you so," but in this instance....read my mind....
And on the other issue of the Employee...I think it would have been better to set precedence with giving a severance package instead of a lawsuit.....because from what I hear there are hard copies of what was told to the incoming Mayor before she took office.....I would speculate that would mean she KNOWINGLY UNDERSTOOD what her salary was going to be BEFORE SHE took office and didn't like the answer and FIRED SAID EMPLOYEE...so therefore in lies the suit...I would also venture to say that any others that have been fired or quit....would have a good possiblilty of a suit too....Just my opinion, everyone has one and that's mine....

Where is it stated that the Council reduced the Mayor's wages? Not trying to be argumentative. I honestly am not aware of the Council moving to reduce the Mayor's salary before she took office. If someone has that information I would really like to see it or hear it.

In short the AG opinion confirms the City Councils rights to establish a range of for the Mayoral position based on subjective criteria. It also confirms the Councils actions in reducing the incoming Mayor's wages based on those criteria. As long as the Mayor and Clerk return the pay raise, I don't think you can prove theft. However, the lawsuit for the former has a strong chance of succeeding if a link can be proven that the release involved this salary transaction in any form or fashion. I heard that the proof of those discussions exist in hard copy. Good luck!

Permalink Reply by William C on May 11, 2011 at 9:20pm Does anyone know if Mayor Republican Jill Dabbs and City Clerk Republican Heather Kizer have returned the money they are not entitled to or if they will be required to at all?
Permalink Reply by Concerned Citizen on May 12, 2011 at 11:21pm William C,
Not sure if the monies were paid back or not, if not, then I would say that is a crime....as citizens, we are certainly entitled to know that information. It should be FOIA'ed to find out if it was paid back.
