According to a statement from the National Weather Service in Little Rock, Saline County is in for some rain, but snow chances are only in the very northern section of the county:
Most important information up top:
- A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for much of northern AR beginning late Friday and lasting through early Sunday
- Several inches of snow (4 to 6+ inches) and significant ice accumulation (up to 0.25 inches) are likely across portions of the watch area… travel impacts are expected and power outages are possible
- Minor snow, sleet, and ice accumulations are possible in central AR, generally along and north of the I-30/I-40 corridor… some travel impacts possible
Much of this forecast hinges on how quickly cold air moves in from the northeast and what the predominant precipitation type will be. If cold air moves in more quickly than forecast, snow/ice accumulations will increase and there will be more widespread snow and ice in central AR. If cold air moves in more slowly, total accumulations will be less.
Several inches of rain are likely across southern Arkansas as well. While widespread flooding is not expected, localized flooding will be possible.
